The Dominican Electricity Transmission Company (ETED) put into service the Bonao III substation at 345/230/138 kilovoltswhich will improve the quality of the energy supply offered to citizens and will expand the transport capacity of the transmission network, facilitating the installation of new generation projects.
The project arises from a collaboration agreement between the ETED and Barrick Pueblo Viejo in 2019.
The electrical infrastructure is equipped with four circuits 345 kV to three conductors per phase, two 230 kV circuits, four circuits 138 kVspaces for future extensions and an installed capacity in transformers of 550 MW.
It is the first substation in the country that handles three voltage levels and is located in the Bonaito community, Monseñor Nouel province.
“With the construction of this substation, energy transport will be significantly improved, which will boost economic and social development in this province and the country,” explained the general administrator of the ETED, Martin Robles Andiron.

With an investment of RD$1,057,979,644.28this new substation will benefit the National Transmission System and will provide stability, quality and greater transmission capacity.
Alliance to mitigate and reduce disaster risks
