Through a brief statement, the Fernandino Fuel Sellers announced that from April 4 they will no longer accept cards as a form of payment.

The decision of the service stations of Maldonado was known after a new increase in the price of fuel.

They argue that they are paying an average of 70,000 dollars a year in fixed tariffs that the government does not want to adjust.

From the Broad Front the decision was criticized. Indeed, Senator Liliam Kechichian said that it is a way of not loving the country.

“Before Tourism Week and when the tourist movement that has suffered so much is needed, they come up with this measure. As they are bosses, perhaps they are not criticized, but the damage they do to tourism is enormous”, questioned the legislator from the Front.

For his part, the economist and former Undersecretary of Economy and Finance Jorge Polgar said that it is “a retrograde and very negative business union measure.”

“Have they taken advantage now that gasoline is so cheap?” Polgar said on his Twitter account.
