The Buenos Aires government lifted this Wednesday the closure of the Bonpland Solidarity Economy Market in the Palermo neighborhood, where Eight cooperatives have been operating that have sold food and textile products for 15 yearswhich was celebrated by the workers, who pointed out: “The collective organization always wins.”

“After several days of paperwork and street fighting this Wednesday at noon they lifted our closure,” the Market workers reported on their social media account.

They specified that “after being inspected by the Government Control Agency (AGC) yesterday afternoon, we ended this conflict convinced and convinced that the collective organization always wins”.

“Thanks to the neighbors and neighbors of CABA, to each consumer who always supports us, to the cooperatives and political and social organizations that approached these days and also to the media that brought our voice to society,” they added.

The closure was imposed by the AGC on Tuesday 22 at the Bonpland 1660 premises when, as they indicated, the inspection task was not allowed, for which the closing was proceeded “due to obstruction of the procedure with police intervention, not being able to verify the authenticity, origin and expiration of the products marketed”.

The closure generated the claim of the workers who denounced that the intervention of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires represented a “authoritarian closure”.

In addition, they stressed that the Market’s authorization “must be carried out by the Gastronomic Development Directorate, and since the necessary works for its authorization have not been carried out, the same Government, which is responsible for these works, is the one that uses this argument to carry close the closure.”

“We will continue to demand from the City Government our end of work owed more than 15 years ago, currently under the General Directorate of Gastronomic Development”, they manifested

Stalls of eight producer cooperatives from the City of Buenos Aires and from the interior of the country have been operating in the Market since November 2007 with the purpose of giving visibility to the productions of the Solidarity Economy and Family Farming.

“We consider the Market as the self-managed work tool of organizations, to give visibility to local and national productions,” they indicated.
