DC Comics has just made official the hiring of Sharon Stone to play the villain (at 64 years old). The Hollywood star will lead the cast of blue beetle in the role of Victoria Kord, a character written especially for the film, outside the comics.
Although there are no precise details, the regulars of the DC Planet will already be linking Victoria with the original hero of the comics, Ted Kord. The truth is that the relationship or family ties have not yet been confirmed. It is known that the superhero genre is, by far, the highest grossing in recent years in Hollywood. AND blue beetleproduced by Warner, is the first story in this universe starring a Latino hero.
Stone will share the casting with Raoul Max Trujillo (from the Mayans MC series), who has joined the production as Carapax, The Indestructible Man, and Xolo Maridueña (Cobra Kai), who will make his film debut as Jaime Reyes; Blue Beetle’s alter ego, a vigilante with special powers capable of emitting energy.
In addition, Bruna Marquezine will play Penny, the female lead, and will have scenes with other Latino actors such as Belissa Escobedo or Harvey Guillén. The film -which was originally going to be an HBO Max premiere- It will be directed by Ángel Manuel Soto, with a script by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer.
