Contingent of migrants arrived in Oaxaca on their way to Mexico City

We have left Chiapas and we are excited to have marched to Oaxaca, which is why we ask the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to withdraw the National Guard to avoid confrontations, Irineo Mujica of an organization called Peoples without Borders told the press.

The migrants – according to Mujica almost four thousand, and the Migration Institute less than two thousand – left the Azteca colony, Arriaga municipality, Chiapas yesterday morning and arrived in Los Corazones, which belongs to Oaxaca where they spent the night.

He said that the caravanistas remain firm in their idea of reaching Mexico City. Some human rights spokesmen accuse him of instigating among migrants the refusal to accept the facilities offered by the government such as residence permits.

Mujica himself declared again today, as if his voice were the only one in the contingent, that they are willing to do whatever it takes to get there and we are not going to accept any document offered by the government.

He affirmed without providing evidence that those who are offering them a visa are cheating because they force them to accept a document that does not serve them, since it does not give them permission to travel anywhere in the country.
