Security collaboration between Mexico and the United States includes, as vital point the prevention and eradication of violence against women
. In both nations, femicides continue to be committed and the pandemic has increased attacks against them, particularly girls and adolescents.
The foregoing was discussed at the opening of the first National Conference on Women and Security, organized by both governments in Mexico City, where specialists reported that 10 women are murdered every day in the country and three in US territory.
Heidi Fulton, deputy assistant secretary of the Department of State, stated that as part of the Bicentennial Understanding, the two administrations have committed to eradicating violence and high-impact crimes, such as homicides, including gender-based violence, and Bruce Swartz, deputy secretary of Justice of United States, said that in his country 37 percent of women have experienced sexual violence and every day three are killed by their partners or ex-partners.
