The Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD) announced as winners of the Award for Industrial Journalism “George Arzeno Brugal” to the journalists Homeland Kings of the newspaper Listín Diario and Martin Polanco of the newspaper El Caribe in the category of Diary, and Felivia Mejiaof Forbes Magazine in the Research category, since Pedro Cabba in the Economic Journalism Lifetime Achievement Award.
The endowment of these awards and recognition was increased this year and amounts to RD$325,000 in each case.
“The AIRD is aware of the passion for informing, for investigating, for exposing the most diverse problems and proposals of the productive sectors that those who practice journalism in the country have. Acknowledging that passion is part of the reasons for holding this Award for the thirteenth consecutive year,” he said. Circe AlmanzarExecutive Vice President of the AIRD.
He indicated that economic journalism and especially the one that focuses its attention on industrial development of the nation has played a very important role in maintaining the flow of information that society requires in the midst of the recovery process that it has been experiencing the Dominican economy.

In the category Research journalist was declared the winner Felivia Mejia, of Forbes Magazine, for Research for a set of work: “Nothing is lost, everything is transformed”, “Logistics at low temperature”, “Distillate seeks its own name”, “The business of beauty” and “Switch on”.
In the category diarism were selected as winners Homeland Kings for his work “Cosmetics made in the country win markets”, and Martin Polanco, from the Caribbean, with his work “Tobacco: the leaf that leaves dividends for the grower”. The prize money will be distributed equally among the winners in this category.
