Mintransporte published a project to obtain a driving license

Issuance of driving licenses increased 71%

The Ministry of Transportation published for citizen comments the draft resolution that establishes greater rigor and conditions in the theoretical and practical examsrequired to obtain a driving license in the country.

(Supertransport opened investigations to 11 weigh stations).

For the Minister of Transport, Ángela María Orozco, the updating of the requirements for the operation of the Logistics Support Evaluation Centers, as well as the exams to obtain a driving license, will strengthen road safety in the country through better trained drivers.

“By establishing new training and evaluation criteria in the driving license process, we seek that drivers have the necessary skills to travel safely on the country’s roads, understanding their responsibility as a driver and being clear about their rights and duties on the roads. This new path will allow us, in the future, to reduce accident rates”, he highlighted.

(After 10 years, the tender for the Canal del Dique is opened).

Thus, all those drivers who require a driving license must present a theoretical and practical exam. The first will be through a technological platform managed by the ANSV It contains 40 multiple-choice questions, of which 12 are about attitudes and 28 about safe and sustainable mobility, traffic regulations, road signs, infrastructure and the vehicle. To pass the exam, the applicant must correctly answer 80% of the questions.

As for the practical exam, it comprises two tests that are also connected to the platform. The first is individual skills on a track closed to vehicle traffic that evaluates the applicant’s skills to maneuver a motor vehicle. The second is carried out on public roads and evaluates the applicant’s abilities to interact with other actors on the road.

In case the theoretical tests, of individual skill or maneuvering on public roads are not approved, the applicant may present each of them again within a period not exceeding 30 days, after notification of the results of the exams.

(Law would stop transition towards vehicles with clean technologies).

The director of the Ansv, Luis Lota, stated that through these exams “we seek to ensure that the people who carry out the process to obtain a driving license have the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to drive responsibly and thus reduce the accident rate. We invite all citizens and stakeholders to participate in this part of the process, to get to know the project and make their comments, road safety is built by all of us”.

The draft resolution also regulates the Logistics Assessment Support Centers (CALE) as well as the support organizations for the competent traffic authorities to carry out the theoretical and practical driving test.

These will obtain their operating registration through the National Traffic Single Registry (RUNT) and must, among other requirements, be legally constituted and their corporate purpose must include the theoretical and practical driving test to obtain and recategorize the driving license. and accredit the registration of the commercial establishment.
