The head of the Ministry of Government arrived at the headquarters of the Constitutional Court, accompanied by her office collaborators.
Alexandra Velaminister of Government, presented at the Constitutional court (CC) one claim of unconstitutionality against the resolution adopted by the Assembly National on March 10, grant 268 amnesties.
According to the Secretary of State, the Function Legislative would have granted amnesties to persons involved in common crimes that are not related to the social protestand, in addition, the police and military who participated from the side of the State in the protests of October 2019 were not considered.
He highlighted the actions of the uniformed who on that occasion acted in defense of the city of Quito and in defense and guarantee of the rights of the citizens of Ambato who were left without water for four days, of the citizens of Cotopaxi who lost their job in the floricultural and in milk production, he explained.

“The Assembly, under the cover of trying to include the protest and social resistance in the events that occurred in October 2019, has tried to place within the amnesties to people who have incurred common crimes and that the granting of an amnesty is excluded by the Constitution.” (SC)
FACT: Among those benefited by the Legislative decision is Leonidas Iza, the president of the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (Conai); the prefect of the province of Pichincha, Paola Pabon, and defenders of water, among others.
