Pastry chef to his cakes: Government accuses Twitter incontinence and instructs its ministers not to comment on matters that do not concern them

Friday March 25. In a new demonstration, a person was shot by a Carabinero. Immediately, the ministers of the Government of President Gabriel Boric used their social networks to condemn the act. “Very serious”, said that day the Minister of the Interior, Izkia Siches; to which would be added the comment of the Minister of National Assets, Javiera Toro (Comunes), who stressed that “the protection of public order must ALWAYS be exercised with respect for the human rights and safety of those who mobilize”, while He emphasized that “refounding Carabineros is a priority of our Government.”

Quoting the deputy of Social Convergence, Gonzalo Winter and his already famous phrase broadcast on the radio Universe that “my sector, and I want to be very specific, I mean the left, the Broad Front and even the people around me, have a problem with Twitter”, the event that occurred that Friday generated a wave of comments towards the Government of President Gabriel Boric on two fronts: first, the haste of the authorities in issuing judgments, after a video was released showing that the Carabinero is surrounded and beaten by a group of individuals; and second, that the authorities comment on matters outside his portfolio, as in the case of Minister Toro.

This fact in particular was commented on in the extended political committee held this Monday in La Moneda, for which the Government instructed from now on that the Secretaries of State refrain from passing judgment on issues that do not correspond to them.

As reported by the newspaper Thirdrepresentatives of Democratic Socialism, Natalia Piergentili (PPD) and Andrés Santander (PS), expressed their concern about the reactions, pointing out that their authorities should have collected information for more time before making public statements.

“What we have talked about is that we must have the space to be able to have antecedents to be able to make a statement that involves different perspectives,” Santander pointed out after the meeting at the Palace.

According to the aforementioned media, in Monday’s meeting the communication issue was touched upon, reiterating to the ruling parties an internal order that had already been given to the cabinet: that they omit being commentators on the contingency on matters that do not correspond to their ministries.

After the political committee, the minister of the General Secretariat of the Government, Camila Vallejo (PC), called for “not to advance judgments that may end up being prejudices regarding events for which we do not have all the information.”
