The united commissions of Energy and Constitutional Points will declare themselves in permanent session this Monday, in order to begin discussing the initiative of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to reform the Magna Carta in electrical matters.

According to the calendar presented by Morena, both commissions of the Chamber of Deputies, to which the proposal was turned over, have until April 6 to conclude a project, which is also expected to be discussed on the 13th in plenary.

Yesterday, the coordinator of Morena, Ignacio Mier Velazco, responded to the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) that the debate on the reform will not begin with pressure or threats, and announced that he will reinforce the dialogue with the opposition to convince it to vote in favor of the project.

It is my job and I will dedicate these weeks to that, to dialogue and convince the good Mexicans that it is important to once again have sovereignty over the electricity sector and thus stop the millionaire losses that the Federal Electricity Commission has daily.said.

On Friday, the national leadership of the tricolor He stated that if Morena intends to approve the initiative without changes -as the President has requested-, the vote of his legislators will be against.

In this regard, Mier said yesterday that in the debate on the reform “there is no place for threats or pressure from groups or parties, but rather the general interest of the people… in Morena we are in favor of this initiative, without hesitation.”

He stated that the parties and the entire population must support the initiative to reform the electricity industry, with which it is sought that the CFE control at least 54 percent of the national market. Among the adjustments that Morena foresees to the presidential text is to include in article 4 of the Constitution the human right to electricity.

I am sure that, in an exercise of introspection, we will be more legislators who want the good of Mexicohe indicated.

According to the agenda of the meeting of the Constitutional Points and Energy commissions, the discussion of the draft opinion is already included.

Although the draft opinion will be circulated to the members of both commissions until April 7 and the work meeting for its discussion and voting will take place between April 11 and 12, it is registered in that way because, when declaring itself in session permanent, the agenda to be authorized this Monday will be the same for the dates of approval in the commissions.

Due to the scope of the reform, the session on April 13 is expected to last until the early hours of the 14th, Holy Thursday, when the project will be sent to the Senate for review and approval.
