The National Waterway Transport Agency (Antaq) auctioned today (5) the port terminals MAC13, in the Port of Maceió, and the Tersab, in the Areia Branca Port Complex, in Rio Grande do Norte. The first was purchased by Empresa Alagoana de Terminais (Empat), the only one to offer a bid, for R$ 15 thousand in grant value. The contest for the second terminal was won by the Intersal Consortium, also the only one to participate, for R$100 thousand in grant value.
According to Antaq, the area called MAC13 has 71,262m² and is intended for the movement and storage of bulk solid vegetables, especially sugar. The contractual term will be 25 years and the investments planned to be made by the winning company total R$55.7 million.
The Tersab terminal is used for the movement and storage of solid mineral bulk, especially sea salt, and has an area of 35,114m². The contractual term is also 25 years. Investments by the winning consortium should reach R$164.1 million.
“We are especially happy to be moving forward, bringing a more adequate infrastructure, bringing contracts that will provide legal certainty, with investments that will be carried out in the two main activities in two states in the country. We are talking about salt in Rio Grande do Norte, and sugar, in the state of Alagoas, the biggest generators of jobs”, highlighted the National Secretary of Ports and Waterway Transport, Diogo Piloni.
