Higüey.- The bishop of the Diocese of Nuestra Señora de La Altagracia, of this province, Jesús Castro Marte, said this Sunday that in the face of the situation in the neighboring country of Haiti, there is a large population that supports President Luis Abinader in his vision of defending the National sovereignty.
“Mr. President, there is an immense mass here, and I am speaking to you as a Dominican, that we are supporting you in the face of the Haitian situation, because there is no business, sovereignty is first,” he said.
Castro marte spoke when participating in the inauguration of the second stage and continuation of the work of the Higüey City Homes housing project.
The bishop of the Diocese of Nuestra Señora de La Altagracia said that President Abinader’s visit always fills the Eastern region with hope and enthusiasm.
“I want to express like any Dominican born from this land of Quisqueya, an eternal gratitude to the President of the Republic because we are living a difficult situation at a social, economic and political level and he has had the wisdom of Solomon to place his ear listening to the people “stressed the bishop.
He considered that the economic readjustment is moving forward in the middle of this pandemic, bringing the Dominican Republic in prosperity.
“But we also want to thank as a Republican people, in the last period of the history of the Dominican Republic for their great courage, their great vision of national sovereignty,” said the religious.
Among these aspects, he highlighted the defense of identity as a people, security and sovereignty.
The priest urged the president to continue defending this territory, where the Spanish language, the Christian faith and unity have always reigned for being Dominicans.
“That is why we always invoke from the East, the presence of the Virgin of Altagracia who will accompany him,” he said.
In another order, the bishop thanked the government’s initiative to restore the San Dionicio church, which he said is carried by the Higüeyanos in his heart.
