Sheinbaum asked Mexican businessmen “not to be afraid” of the reform, which has as one of its central axes to allocate 54% of the electricity supply to the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) and 46% to private initiative.
“National companies do not have to be afraid, nobody has to be afraid,” he commented.
He took the opportunity to call on the members of the Chamber of Deputies and Senators to approve the reform that he compared to the Oil Expropriation, during the mandate of Lázaro Cárdenas in 1938.
“A proposal that recovers national sovereignty in the electricity sector is in the hands of the Chamber of Deputies and the Chamber of Senators.
“Each deputy, each deputy, each senator, each senator, today has in their hands the possibility of going down in history, of thinking of their children, of thinking of their grandchildren, of not thinking of an immediate present, but on the contrary , think about what they are going to leave for future generations,” said the president, according to a statement sent by the capital government.
