In the interview with the cycle “Desiguales” (Public TV), President Alberto Fernández said that he does not want to “look good with God and with the devil” but said that there are “devils who increase prices and we have to make them see reason” .
The President assured that there is “a self-constructed inflation that the way in which food production is concentrated has a lot to do with it; They must be called to reflection so that they understand that the fact that they have a kind of oligopoly does not authorize them to raise prices”.
“Desiguales” is the program hosted by journalists Luli Trujillo and Pablo Caruso, and which is “dedicated to thinking about issues that affect us on a daily basis such as inequality, the pandemic, meritocracy or fake news; with reports and the words of guests specials”.
In addition, the president reiterated that social plans “have to become work” but he clarified that it must be “formal work”.
“We have to recover the culture of work, but formal work. The majority (of those who receive plans) work, but informally,” he said in statements to Public TV.
Likewise, Alberto Fernández affirmed that “it is necessary for a greater number of workers in the popular economy to become formal, but they must be given a regulatory framework to develop with a minimum of security.”
The President added that “There is a sector of the countryside that has taken a political-partisan position” who opposes the government’s measures for the sector, such as the increase in withholdings on some products.
On the other hand, Fernández ratified that “we agreed that the rates cannot increase more than 80% of the salary variation coefficient, and for those who have a social rate, no more than 40%.” He added that “We want to end the most inefficient thing which is to subsidize the richest. That is why the first decile (of society) ends up receiving subsidies.” He added that the government “is doing everything necessary to guarantee the supply of gas” in the coming winter season.
“It is a fiction, a lie” to say that there was another possibility in agreement with the IMF, the President pointed out. “We had an agreement that the orthodoxy of the Fund did not accept, we said we are not going to make any adjustments; it was a very tough fight, it was an unusual agreement, that is why we did not know until the last minute how the Fund’s board was going to vote.”
What’s more, “There had to be an acknowledgment from the IMF that they did something wrong”he added.
The President also assured that “he fully shares the idea” of Vice President Cristina Kirchner “of seeking a great agreement, a social contract.” He expressed that the questions about the internal ones in the Front of All “are debates that are put more in the media than in the people, who are worried about inflation and economic problems.”
