Ahead of the 2022 Regional and Municipal Elections, 10 parties and 85 regional movements, which decided to elect their candidates indirectly, registered with the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) to the delegate candidates.
In this sense, the ONPE explained that the delegates will be the ones who decide at the polls the citizens who will seek to apply for regional and municipal governments within their respective organizations.
Likewise, three organizations withdrew from participating in the internal elections ahead of the elections next October. These are: Movimiento Naranja (Tacna), Fuerza Comunal (San Martín) and the Junín Future and Progress Regional Movement (Junín).
Meanwhile, the political parties that managed to register their candidates by list are: Avanza País – Social Integration Party, Front of Hope 2021 Party, Together for Peru, Free Peru National Political Party, FIA Popular Agricultural Front of Peru – Frepap , Faith in Peru and Popular Renewal.
In total, there were 10 parties and 88 regional movements that were obliged to register their candidates for delegates and the last day to do so was last Saturday, March 26, as established by the ONPE.

The indirect elections of candidates consist in the fact that on May 15th the members of each political organization will choose, through universal, free, voluntary, equal, direct and secret vote, their delegates, who on the 22nd of the same month will be the ones who They will be in charge of deciding who the candidates of their party or movement are.
According to the regulations of the internal elections, the candidacy for delegate must be presented through closed and blocked lists or by nominal candidacies, in addition to specifying whether it is national or regional. The requirements to obtain the appointment of delegate and the number of delegations allowed are determined by the political organization itself.
