To celebrate the Day of the Circus, celebrated this Sunday (27), and to honor the professionals of the circus art, the TV Brazil features the first two episodes of the original series circusesin sequence, from 18:00h.
The public broadcaster’s documentary production reveals the fascinating universe of the arena. The proposal is to unravel the mysteries and secrets of clown acts, illusionism, acrobatics, balancing and juggling.
Carried out in four episodes, the program combines interviews and performances to highlight the greatest show on Earth for new generations and entertain the family with the fun and joy of the enchantment provided by this magical environment.
The idea of the series is to show the most diverse forms of this artistic manifestation. The series presents a look at the aspects that characterize the traditional circus, from street shows to the reinvention of this cultural heritage.
Distinguished interviewees
Artists and researchers approach the current moment of the circus in the country, highlight its importance, analyze the influence on other arts and explain the transforming power. Guests also talk about the professional routine as well as the beauty of circus art and the circus’ role in society.
Consecrated stars on the stage and new talents from the arena sew the script of the series with a sensitive approach to the circus experience. Young and old alike open their hearts in interviews to the TV Braziltell their stories, reveal backstage and highlight the magic of the presentations.
The public channel’s own production brings together personalities such as the veteran Dedé Santana and the experienced Marcos Frota. The series circuses also features the testimony of researcher Verônica Tamaoki, illusionist Issao Imamura and clowns Fernando Sampaio, Marcos Casuo and Lu Lopes, among other names in the field.
An ancient art that has always enchanted people around the world, the circus faces constant challenges such as competition with new forms of entertainment, the ban on the use of animals, the search for more public incentives and the struggle for spaces, especially in large centers.
Workers passionate about circus culture ratify this perspective, but broaden the horizon in their speeches and suggest new dimensions of the reach of this art. Despite the difficulties, everyone carries the certainty that the playful and dazzling universe of the circus will never die.
Clowning is the opening theme
Some say that a circus without a clown is not a circus. Therefore, the first episode of the series of TV Brazil could not have another protagonist. The journey through this world of enchantment mixes testimonies and performances by great names such as Dedé Santana, Lu Lopes, Fran Marinho, Fernando Sampaio and Marcos Casuo.
The interviewees reflect on the art of making people smile with great sensitivity, intimacy and joy. They recall their entry into the profession and analyze topics such as the relationship between sadness and the clown, healing through laughter, women clowns, the power of the mask and the fundamental role of the clown in the circus and in society.
During this first issue of the series circusesthe public broadcaster offers the audience from home fun acts with attractions such as Circo do Asfalto, Universo Casuo, Circo dos Sonhos, La Mínima and Palhaça Rubra, among other characters.
