Abinader visits La Vega and Monsignor Nouel

The mandatary Louis Abinader Monsignor Nouel was in the provinces this Saturday and The Vegawhere he inaugurated various works, gave the first piles and shovels to build others, met with neighborhood associations and will continue with more activities this Sunday in The Vega.

The first work inaugurated was the Bonao III electrical substation, being the first to operate at three voltage levels of 345/230/138 kilovolts.

The work will improve the quality of energy supply in the northern area. It was built with an investment of more than 1,057 million pesos, after an agreement that emerged in 2019 between the Dominican Electricity Transmission Company (Eted) and the mining company Barrick Pueblo Viejo.

Then Abinader participated, as a special guest, in the first start-up date for the construction of the Vista al Valle low-cost apartment complex, under the trust law, in the city of The Vega. With the work, more than 1,800 temporary jobs would be generated.

Hence the President moved to the Fernando Teruel sports center in the same city and led the official act of delivery of cards and inclusion of some 2,351 new families, to the Supérate social assistance program, ensuring that with this the recruitment and evaluation for more beneficiary families of economic assistance of 1,650 pesos per month. He pointed out that the goal is to reach 1 million 650 thousand families nationwide, as announced in his accountability on February 27.

He assured that the Government has made an extraordinary effort to mitigate the effects of the international crisis and that it not only doubled the amount of the Supérate card from what was previously given, but also doubled the number of beneficiaries.

He held a private meeting with neighborhood associations

For his part, the President of the Provincial Development Commission, Ángel De La Cruz, said that 97 houses are under construction to benefit low-income families.

Public Works

He too President started the asphalting works of dozens of sectors of The Vegaensuring that some 250 thousand people benefit.

Some of the sectors where the Public Works authorities pave more than 18 kilometers of streets are La Cigua, Villa Rosa, San Martín, Barrio Inco, Doña Mercedes, Don Fausto and Ana Magalis, among others.

He said that together with the mayor’s office and the neighborhood associations they prepare a selection of sectors where asphalt has never been paved, and that the program is for the benefit of those who have the least.

Construction and expansion of Free Zone warehouses

The President Abinader gave the first palace that marks the beginning of the construction works of 2 industrial buildings and the expansion of 3 more buildings in the free zone The Vegafor an amount of 165 million pesos.

Speaking a few words at this act, the president indicated that this government will always support and open up to all businessmen who create jobs for the people.

He considered that every time a new company is struck, it means that there will be jobs for hundreds of families who will earn a decent living.

The free zone The Vegawhich belongs to the Center for Industrial Development and Competitiveness (Proindustria), produces footwear, textiles, tobacco, hangers, plastics, screen printing, textile recycling and currently has 44 industrial buildings, 26 installed companies and 4,377 employees.

Ulises Rodríguez, director of Proindustria, stated: “when we received this park it had 2,501 jobs, today we have managed to reach a total of 4,377 jobs, a figure that is increasing.

With this first palazo, work has begun on the expansion of 3 industrial warehouses, belonging to the companies Five Star, CBK and Sakira, which once the work is finished will generate some 200 direct jobs.

Island Farms Grand Opening

In that same order, the President Abinader attended the opening ceremony of the new facilities of the Island Farms agro-industrial project, in partnership with the international company Crystal Valley Foods, which is among the 25 most influential companies in the agricultural sector in the United States.

The island Farms company will generate more than 120 new jobs in the industrial park of The Vega and more than 500 direct jobs in the Dominican countryside.

Residential project Professor Jacobo Cornelio

To these works is added, that the President Louis Abinadertogether with the company Inishmore del Caribe, gave the first peck to begin work on the Professor Jacobo Cornelio low-cost housing project, which will have 608 apartments, in The Vega.

The work will cost 1,800 million pesos, will provide 2,500 direct and 500 indirect jobs.

La Concepción Professional Tower

In the afternoon, the president gave the first floor for the construction of the La Concepción Business Tower, which is part of the La Concepción Advanced Medicine Center. This construction will have an investment of more than 450 million pesos and will provide approximately 309 direct jobs.

The activities of inaugurations and start of other works continues this Sunday from 10:00 in the morning.
