Today, Sunday, the EU coordinator in these talks, Enrique Mora, travels to this capital as part of the latest attempts to resolve the obstacles to obtaining an agreement in Vienna.
Mora will hold talks with Iranian chief negotiator Ali Baqeri Kani and other top Persian officials on the remaining issues and then leave for Washington on Monday to meet with US officials on the results of their meeting.
In a telephone conversation with Sophie Wilmès, his Belgian counterpart, he pointed out the progress made in the talks in Vienna, Austria, aimed at eliminating anti-Rayan sanctions and reactivating the nuclear agreement signed in 2015, from which the United States unilaterally withdrew in May 2018.
During the phone call, the parties discussed issues of mutual interest and stressed the need to strengthen economic relations between the two countries, expand trade and maintain close cooperation in various fields.
Since April 2021, Iran and the 4+1 Group (United Kingdom, France, China, Russia and Germany) have held eight rounds of negotiations in Vienna with the aim of revitalizing the nuclear agreement, officially called the Comprehensive Plan of Joint Action, ( PIAC).
Reviving the PIAC requires as a sine qua non condition the lifting of the sanctions imposed by the United States on the Persian country, by unilaterally withdrawing from the pact in 2018, Tehran authorities reiterate.
