The Environmental Control Brigade (BCA) of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development rescued this Saturday in the province of Corrientes a group of female specimens of black alligators that suffered the consequences of the drought and the firesas officially reported.

In an operation carried out in the towns of Lomas de Vallejos and Cerrudo Cué, in the north of Corrientes, BCA personnel rescued alligators in puddles of water, in a context of extreme drought that has been going on for two years and of grassland fires that occurred in the region in the last week.

The specialists moved the animals to the closest area with availability of large estuaries, where lagoons and wetlands are connected.

The BCA, dependent on the Directorate of Inspections of the Secretariat of Environmental Control and Monitoring, is made up of specialized agents and was launched in 2020 as an initiative to optimize and expand the powers of the body of inspectors of the Ministry.
