Therefore, when creating an online store, especially if you do not have great knowledge on the subject, there may be some complications in the process. Although starting your own virtual store is not difficult, it is necessary to take some tips to avoid future problems.

In line with this, Thais Gaona, a specialist in Innovation at the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation of the Universidad del Pacífico – Emprende UP, offers some recommendations to entrepreneurs to take into account when creating a virtual store:

  1. Determine the business strategy: Before starting with the store, it must be clear what it is that you want to achieve and who you want to attract as an audience. For this, you have to determine the business strategy and the market niche you are going to target. In this way, you can establish a specific store for those people you want to target.
  2. Choose the name and domain of the web: Choosing a good domain is important in an online store. Both the name and the domain should be easy to remember and easy to type. In the case of the domain, if it also contains any of our keywords, it will help us position ourselves in search engines for those terms. Try to make it a .com, or a .pe if you will only sell to Peru.
  3. Creation and maintenance budget: It is important to define a budget for the development of the store and another for its permanence. If you don’t have a certain investment, you run the risk of overspending on something. That is why it is necessary to write down all the necessary services that you must pay for, the options in terms of cost and determine how much you are willing (or able) to pay for each of them.
  4. Provide a good user experience: When we talk about user experience we mean how the visitor interacts with the site. It is very important to put yourself in the place of the users and visualize what the experience is like and what you would have to modify. Optimizing your site based on this recommendation will lead to increased conversions.
  5. Keep the brand identity fixed: It is important that when users enter the digital store, the brand is correctly defined. This does not mean that we put the logo everywhere. If not, take into account the colors and typography. The same if you use social networks. Everything must respond to the concept of the company so that there is visual coherence and generate greater confidence in users.
  6. Create a digital marketing strategy: In addition to content creation, it is advisable to consider a digital marketing strategy. This will help increase sales. You should take this as an investment in order to earn more money. The positive thing is that there are accessible platforms for this (such as Google Ads and Facebook Ads). Also, you can control how much you invest and for how long.
