This index is used to make estimates of the growth of Mexico’s Gross Domestic Product, and the last time it fell was in October 2021, when it decreased 0.1%.
After that point, the IGAE grew at a monthly rate of 0.6% in November, 0.9% in December and 0.4% in January, according to seasonally adjusted figures from Inegi.
By components, the monthly variation of the IGAE, in January 2022, was as follows: secondary activities increased 1%, tertiary activities increased 0.2% and primary activities decreased 2.3%.

This Tuesday, the Inegi published the Timely Indicator of Economic Activity, which forecasts in advance a growth of the Mexican economy of 2.8%, for February, with a monthly rise of 0.3%. If the data is confirmed, Mexico would already have four consecutive months of growth.
