The congressional board of directors, who drives Maria del Carmen Alva, decided to pay the travel expenses to Spain of the legislator of Popular Force Juan Carlos Lizarzaburu. He met between October 25 and 29, 2021 with representatives of the Spanish far-right political group Vox, thanks to the authorization obtained from Parliament.
Lizarzaburu’s trip was supported by the first vice president of Parliament, Lady Mercedes Camones Soriano (Alliance for Progress); the second vice president, Enrique Wong Pujada (We can); and the third vice president, Patricia Chirinos Venegas (Advance Country).

According to the document of the Legislative Power, the congressman received the invitation of Victor Gonzáles Coello from Portugal, deputy of the Spanish Parliament, spokesman for the Foreign Affairs Commission and vice president of the aforementioned far-right party, on October 19 to meet because of “the economic and commercial situation between both countries and that of Peruvians residing in Spain ”.

The fact was made public only on the night of November 5. In this sense, the Juntos por el Perú caucus expressed its concern and asked Alva, through an official letter, to report the reasons why they allocated public resources.
“As you know, the political group Vox holds positions that are openly fascist, undemocratic, misogynistic and contrary to the rights of migrants”, Reiterated Ruth Luque, spokeswoman for the parliamentary group.

The Lizarzaburu meeting was not the only episode in which he made reference to the member nation of the European Union. After the assumption of command of Pedro Castillo – where the head of state mentioned in his message the conquest of America and, in the presence of the king Felipe VI of SpainHe recalled the abuses perpetrated against the ancestors of the Tahuantinsuyo – the parliamentarian sent a letter to the monarch apologizing “for the president’s foolish words (…) in his inauguration speech.”
So far, no representative of the orange bench or the board of directors gave explanations. However, it is known that the leader of Fuerza Popular, Keiko Fujimori, already had approaches with representatives of Vox.
