The search for a unity candidate to defeat Nicolás Maduro is the watchword in Venezuela.
CARACAS. The Venezuelan opponent Carlos Prosperi urged this Saturday, March 26, 2022, the anti-Chavistas to work “in unity” to “recover Venezuela in 2024”, the year for which presidential elections are scheduled in that country.
“Enough of hidden agendas, the time has come to speak the truth to our people and organize ourselves because in 2024, united in a great democratic coalitionwe are going to recover our country,” Prosperi said, according to a press release released by his team.
The leader urged opponents to stop thinking “that they are messiahs” and to unite to organize those who oppose the Nicolas Maduro’s regime.
«There we see saying that it is not the time to think about candidacies but to save Venezuela. I hope they stop thinking they are messiahs and help organize our people, without hidden campaign commands or using parallel platforms; that they dedicate themselves to touring every corner of Venezuela », he limited.

In this sense, he assured that those who make up, like him, Democratic Action (the traditional party of social democracy) are organizing to present a candidate to the primaries that, they hope, will be held within the Venezuelan opposition to define who will face Chavismo in the 2024 presidential election.
“After 34 long years in which Democratic Action did not elect a president, the party is going to present a candidacy. We adecos do not ask for gifts, we adecos are going to measure ourselves in primaries to elect the presidential candidate », he asserted.
He insisted that Venezuela “It needs a decent government” that solves the problems of citizens and that knows the dramas that are lived inside the Caribbean country.

This Thursday the president of the opposition political formation Alianza Pencil, Antonio Ecarrialso proposed holding an “open and popular national consultation” between the different anti-Chavista sectors to elect a unitary candidate to face Chavismo in the elections scheduled for 2024.
