On February 17, it transpired that the capital administration had donated t-shirts and backpacks to the Broad Front for a “Yes” para-walk.
The mayor of Montevideo, Carolina Cosse, said that it was a “mistake of a person” which was corrected, added that it was without authorization and ordered that the donation not be made. At the same time, she arranged for an administrative investigation to be carried out.
After the events, the coordinator of the Department of Physical Education, Sports and Recreation, of the Municipality of Montevideo, Marcelo Signorelli, resigned from his position.
Criminal complaint
Meanwhile, this Friday, March 25, a delegation of white and red councilors filed a criminal complaint against Signorelli.
“We waited a reasonable time to see if we had any news from the administrative investigation of the Montevideo Municipality, that has not happened and unfortunately we have little hope of having news soon,” said the criminal lawyer in charge of the case, Andrés Ojeda, in conversation with Underscore.
The complaint states that the delivery of the materials was done in a “planned and deliberate manner, with the aim of directly contributing to a political, electoral activity.”
The complainants consider that crimes of “embezzlement and abuse of functions” would have been committed.
