The National Institute of Human Rights (INDH) ruled on what happened this day in the Alameda during the march of the Confederation of Students of Chile (Confech), where according to pre-military records a carabinero used his service weapon, wounding a a 19 year old student.
The Office of the Metropolitan Region of the INDH through a statement reported that the establishment is studying what legal actions it is going to file against the uniformed officer involved in the events.

“According to the victim’s own account, given to the INDH team, the impact would have occurred due to a weapon that was fired by a Carabineros official. As a result of these events, the North Central Prosecutor’s Office instructed the Human Rights Brigade Humans from the PDI to carry out the investigation,” they point out in the document.
The head of the Metropolitan Region of the INDH, Beatrice Contrerasindicated that “This situation worries us greatly and that is why we appreciate that the Prosecutor’s Office has immediately ordered the start of an investigation.”
“We hope that these facts will be clarified as soon as possible and for our part, within the framework of our legal mandate, we are evaluating what is the most pertinent legal action for the case according to the background information that we are gathering,” added Contreras.
It should be noted that the injured young man did not want data about his personal life to be disclosed and according to the information provided by the INDH itself, he is in the Central Posta out of vital risk.
