A subject identified as Rafael Andrés Garrido was killed during a confrontation with agents of the National Anti-Extortion and Kidnapping Command (Conas), military sources said.
The victim belonged to the inner circle of Romer Rodríguez (El Chaci), whose criminal organization of the same name has its base of operations in El Sombrero, Guárico.
The criminal organization El Chaci, specialized in demanding high sums in dollars from agricultural producers to let them work and spare their lives, has been founding cells in other municipalities of Guárico.
In fact, the confrontation where Rafael Andrés Garrido fell occurred in the El Miedo sector, Francisco de Miranda municipality (Calabozo), Guárico. In that place, several armed subjects exchanged shots with soldiers. In the middle of the shooting, the criminals fled and left Garrido behind, who fell badly wounded and died a few minutes later.
A Sarsilmaz brand 9mm pistol, serial number BK10901, a 9mm caliber charger and a radio transmitter were seized at the site.
The Public Ministry was informed of the procedure.
