Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins has died at the age of 50 in Bogotá, Colombia, while the band was touring South America, his representatives have confirmed.
“The Foo Fighters family is terribly devastated by the tragic and untimely death of our beloved Taylor Hawkins. His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live with us forever,” the band reported on Twitter.
The American band was on tour in South America. The band played at the Foro Sol in Mexico City on Tuesday, March 15.
Oliver Taylor Hawkins was born in Fort Worth, Texas on February 17, 1972. Hawkins made his first collaboration with the Foo Fighters in 1998 on the album “There Is Nothing Left to Lose” and had been a permanent member ever since. Foo Fighters was founded by Dave Grohl after the death of Kurt Cobain and Nirvana split in 1994.
Hawkins previously collaborated with Alanis Morrisette from 1995 to 1997 as her live drummer on tour for the Jagged Little Pill album.
Foo Fighters was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2021 and the band released their tenth album Medicine At Midnight in February 2021.
