The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Sergio Massa, spoke on Friday in Salta in favor of working to have a new rental law in the next 90 days, after the presentation of a reform project to the current norm by the ruling party, and believed that in terms of inflation, a saving measure is not needed but “a set of measures that allow solving the problem”.
“If indeed today we finish setting up the commissions, my idea is that next week, in a commission made up of all the political forces, we work on the suspension of Lipovetzky’s lawwhich clearly failed”, expressed Massa.
The president of the lower house, who met on Friday with the Salta media, also considered the possibility of “the constitution of a working group in parliament that allows for a new rental law in the next 90 days.”
In this sense, he stressed that the current law “harmed owners, tenants and real estate” and added: “never a law was so clear in fail with all the actors.
“The rental market of the City of Buenos Aires is not the same as that of Salta, and that of Salta Capital is not the same as that of Tartagal, Orán or Cerrillos. So it seems to me that the law has to have the possibility that each province can establish mechanisms with a more federal look,” he said.
For this reason, he indicated: “If we are a federal country, we have to start delegate to provincial legislatures the regulation of legal and regulatory frameworks, which allow the provinces to adapt and improve their benefits according to their own reality”.
Referring to the fight against inflation, Massa said that “Argentina has several factors that affect its prices and also a world that adjusts its economy due to war or pandemic, which generates price inflation.”
“Somehow we have to have a local look, to try to protect the Argentines of a global context of strong inflation that, as it is in dollars, due to the loss of value of our currency, affects us more”, he stated.
Then, he said that “we must leave the idea that someone magically with a goal is going to save us” and he added: “against inflation we have to work in a set of measures that allow us to solve the problem”.
When asked about the 2023 elections, he replied that “society expects us to take care of solving what happens to it every day”, and pointed out: “I see some political sectors very packed, discussing candidacies and I get the feeling that we Argentines have too many problems to walk around charge fight”.
“I believe that the most important challenge we have as a country and as a Nation is that of work all togetherin resolving issues that allow the people, regardless of who governs, to have the capacity to plan the medium and long term of Argentina”, he specified.
The legislator also commented that “in the coming weeks a law will be passed that will somehow give the medium and long term to the Pre-Tripwhich aimed to recover the hotel and gastronomic sector from the two years of the pandemic.”
“We live one of the most important tourist seasons of the last 30 years in Argentina, we have recovered employment in the sector and the losses caused by the pandemic, but now we have the obligation to work in destinations with seasonality, so that the Pre-travel is the instrument that allows us to work the against seasonality and to be able to compensate”, he expressed.
