World recognition for Cuban anti-COVID-19 vaccines

A relevant recognition is the decision of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to award its Inventors Medal to the authors of four Cuban vaccines against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Sovereign 01, the Sovereign 02, Abdala and Mambisa are the ones selected for their stimulation, the Master of Science María de los Ángeles Sánchez Torres, General Director of the Cuban Office of Industrial Property (OCPI) reported exclusively to the Cuban News Agency. .

He explained that the stimulation is due to their contributions to national economic and technological development and that they will be delivered shortly by Daren Tang (Singapore), Director General of WIPO, a UN agency based in Geneva, Switzerland.

He announced that Tang will travel to Havana at the head of a delegation from his group to present the medals next Monday to the main creators of Cuban anti-COVID-19 immunogens.

Then the inventions and their groups of Soberana 01, the Finlay Institute of Vaccines and the Center for Molecular Immunology will be awarded; as well as those of Soberana 02, the Finlay Institute of Vaccines, the Center for Molecular Immunology and the University of Havana.

In addition, Abdala and Mambisa, from the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, all four of whose candidates had previously obtained or applied for a patent or utility model.
