The Social Security Bank (BPS) will open this Friday a residential for older adults in the town of Vergara, Treinta y Tres.
The inauguration of this center takes place through the support from the BPS, the Intendancy of Treinta y Tres, the Ministry of Transport and Public Works (MTOP) and several private actors to XXI Century Vergara Civil Association —which watches over the promotion and growth of the locality— and that it had expressed the need for a home with these characteristics aiming to provide solutions to the elderly of Vergara so that they do not have to move.
The BPS contributed approximately $1.5 million to get the center up and running. In addition, it will provide $ 100 thousand more as a help to start. All this within the framework of the financial support to non-profit civil organizationsthrough which the body It already reaches 83 nursing homes.
Home will have a total of 10 quotas. In the first stage will have four of which two are bed quotas derived from the BPS. to these four a quota is added that is for daytime stay, without overnight. Later, the other places will be added.
“The first transfer to the center is of an elderly man who was in a home in Rio Branco and who is now going to return to his town. This is part of the proximity program of the BPS trying to go where the problems are and to have a presence throughout the national territory, reaching those places where it is most needed.”, he told The Observer the president of the organization, Alfredo Cabrera.
In turn, Cabrera indicated that in addition to economic support, the bank will provide technical support through social assistants and specialized areas so that “once put into operation, the management can be carried out”. And he added: “We are planning a training cycle and course for staff of homes to improve the treatment of internees”.
Agreement with Mides
On the other hand, this Monday andl BPS and the Ministry of Social Development (Mides) signed a collaboration agreement with the objective of carry out the repair and maintenance of orthopedic equipment by the National Center for Technical and Technological Aids (Cenatt) for beneficiaries of both institutions.
The agreement states that For every two pieces of equipment that are repaired, one will be returned to the BPS in good condition to be reissued to a beneficiary and the other will remain the property of Cenatt for use by the Mides beneficiaries.. The service provided by Mides-Cenatt will be no cost to the BPS and the equipment delivered by the BPS to Mides so that they remain in its property, will be at no cost to Mides.
“This agreement implies focusing resources, making them more efficient, sitting down to think about how we can make the resources we have more efficient“, he said at a press conference. the national secretary of Care and Disability of the Mides, Nicolás Scarela. In turn, he mentioned that he continues to work with the BPS on an extensive common agenda, which includes the details of the single scale of disability.
For his part, Cabrera commented that this agreement has the virtues of simplicity and the collaboration for the saving of public money used with the aim of optimizing management: “SVillages that were left in disuse, from now on, will have a recycling and reuse stage, which improves the management of funds and allows us to reach more beneficiaries“, he claimed.
