Some 37 corregimientos belonging to the districts of San Miguelito, Panama, Chepo, Balboa, Chimán and Taboga, will be integrated into the Hive Plan, announced this morning the Minister of Social Development, María Inés Castillo, pointed out that the strategy of the Hive Plan responds to national commitments to the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda.

“As we know, inequality gaps persist in our country. It is a reality that was clearly evidenced during the strongest cycle of the Covid-19 health, social and economic crisis; and that directly impacts our less favored people in different dimensions of well-being,” Castillo said.

According to the minister, on March 17, she presented the Hive Plan Bill before the plenary session of the National Assembly so that it becomes a public policy and the country’s strategy for the fight against poverty and inequality.

With this Plan, the Social Cabinet seeks to improve the quality of life of more than 777 thousand Panamanians who live in extreme multidimensional poverty in 300 districts of 63 districts of the country.
