They found more than a hundred exotic and endangered birds that were going to be marketed

27 yellow cardinals, a globally endangered bird, were found.

Personnel from the Argentine Federal Police (PFA) kidnapped a total of 113 native birds, exotic to the province of Entre Ríos and in danger of extinction, which were in cages to be marketed in the city of Chajarí, reported the provincial Environment Secretariat .

The operation was carried out in a private home in that city in the northeast of Entre Ríos, by order of the local Guarantee Judge José Lena.

Members of the Complex Investigations Department of the NEA region of the PFA arrived at the address where found in a large garden 113 birds of native species, protected, endangered, exotic and hybrid specimens.

Among them were 27 yellow cardinals and three white-breasted capuchins, both globally endangered; a brown-throated capuchin, part of the threatened species; and a federal one, declared a provincial natural monument.

Also seized were 118 cages, a 22 caliber rifle along with four deer heads and an embalmed alligator.

According to the national law 22,421, all inhabitants have a duty to protect wildlifein accordance with the regulations issued by the enforcement authorities for its conservation and management.

Also, both hunting and the possession and trafficking of wild fauna animals represent an infraction of the regulations in force in Entre Ríos (provincial law 4,841 and complementary regulations).

The “products” of the entrerriana fauna must have corresponding documentation; and the transit guide and health certification that guarantees to be free of diseases in the case of coming from other provinces.

Thus, The person responsible for the house was charged with an alleged violation of Law 22,421.

Meanwhile, police personnel, park rangers, and specialists from NGOs classified the specimens that will later be transferred to the “El Potrero” reserve, in Gualeguaychú.
