The Minister of Justice and Transparency, Iván Lima, reported this Friday that they will maintain the sponsorship of Jhanet ZA, the woman who denounced the former Ombudsman Waldo Albarracín for abandoning a pregnant woman. This, after a DNA test indicated that the former UMSA rector is not the father of the complainant’s girl.
“I am going to defend all women who file complaints at the ministry. If a woman comes to ask for sponsorship from the ministry, I cannot ask her for a DNA test and I cannot think that she is lying to me. (…) This lady who has filed a complaint against Waldo Albarracín, like any citizen, I am going to believe her and I am going to maintain her credibility while a judge passes sentence,” Lima told the media.

“This process is ongoing and what we are going to ask the Judicial Branch is to make a definition based on the evidence that has been presented: the DNA test, the elements that have been presented and the word of the victim — because that woman is a victim. They have to be heard by a judge, that judge must decide and he is the one who is going to be responsible for the decision. (…) Until the sentence is handed down, we are going to continue sponsoring “, he added.
Last Friday, a scientific study carried out by the Forensic Research Institute (IDIF) was released in which Albarracín “is excluded” “as the minor’s biological father.” Despite this, the complainant assured that she is sure that the former rector is the father, so she will not withdraw the criminal complaint and is even considering resorting to international instances.
