Governor of Amazonas reported the death of four indigenous people in confrontation

The governor of Amazonas, Miguel Rodríguez, reported the death of four Yanomami indigenous people as a result of a confrontation with military officials from the Bolivarian Aviation that occurred in the Parima B community, Alto Orinoco municipality.

“There was a confrontation between Yanomami brothers and colleagues from the aviation component stationed in Parima B, after the Internet was not shared with them, generating a confrontational situation that resulted in 4 deaths and 5 injuries. The investigations of the case are already underway, ”the regional president wrote on his Instagram account.

This event occurred last Sunday, a situation that Governor Rodríguez described as “a true tragedy.” The deceased are: Martina González (45), Jhonatan Silva (30), Cariban González (22) and Isnardo Borges (21). A teenager was also injured but was taken to the José Gregorio Hernández hospital located in Puerto Ayacucho (Amazonas).

Two soldiers were also injured.

The indigenous people used bows and arrows, a situation that was answered by firearms fired from the military establishment, according to versions.

Governor Miguel Rodríguez reflected on the bloody event and stated that by not having the necessary training to deal with ancestral cultures with different worldviews, “any confused official can generate painful situations.”
