Congresswoman Norma Yarrow (Avanza País) today asked the President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo, to “re-evaluate” the appointment of Jorge Alva, who registers two complaints of family violence before the Monserrat police station, as revealed by Peru21.
In her official letter sent this Wednesday, the parliamentarian warns that Alva Coronado’s removal from office will mean that Castillo took “direct action” in response to the accusations.
“Otherwise, citizens may interpret that from the Government Palace there is a culture of justification, tolerance and normalization of violence against women,” reads the document.

In another paragraph, the legislator considers that the complaint filed by Lourdes Rubio against her husband Jorge Alva prevents him from remaining as a public servant.
“It represents not only impunity but the consecration of a macho ideology that should not be encouraged or supported from the Peruvian State and even less from the Government Palace,” the official note points out.
This newspaper reported that Lourdes Rubio Castro denounced her husband Jorge Alva for domestic violence in October 2013. According to the police report, the spouse stated that she had been the victim of forced removal from the home by the current presidential secretary.
“Causing with his attitude that his (3) minor children are nervous and scared, affecting them emotionally and lowering their school performance”, indicates the document accessed by this newspaper.
In addition, in March 2018, the Police were alerted by an emergency call in an apartment on Óscar R. Benavides Avenue, formerly Colonial. Once again, it was Jorge Alva’s house.
The lady explained to the authorities that she took her husband’s things out into the street because of the constant attacks he suffered.
