Some 400 truckers prepare trip to Asunción: “We are going to show strength”

Hoy Paraguay

Blocking points such as North and South accesses and settling in downtown to “demonstrate the strength” they have, is in the plans of the truckers, who this afternoon are preparing a trip to the Capital, demanding a definitive solution to the fuel problem.

“It was resolved last night that part of the demonstration that is inside would be moved to the capital to push them to rush to solve this problem, because it is already ipukuma,” reported Ángel Zaracho, president of the Paraguayan Truckers Association. , in an interview with 1080 AM.

He recalled that the head of Congress, Óscar Salomón, promised them that the fuel subsidy project would be approved on Monday, however, the proposal did not even enter the Upper House.

“The plan is to go to Asunción, demonstrate the strength we have, for example in Acceso Norte and Acceso Sur so that the authorities, who are very calm, can speed up their decision,” he asserted.

He estimated that about 400 trucks would arrive in the Capital, of which 100 of them are dump trucks and would enter through Clean. The others would take other accesses, including bulk carriers and oil tankers.

The Minister of the Interior, Federico González, warned this morning that a security device had been ordered in order to prevent the entry of large trucks into Asunción.
