The Legislative Assembly of the State of São Paulo (Alesp) approved yesterday (22), in an extraordinary session, a salary readjustment for state civil servants in the areas of health and public security, which include Civil and Military Police. The Complementary Law Project 2/22 grants a 20% increase to health and security servers and 10% to other servers belonging to the classes of the school support staff, penitentiary administration and scientific researchers of the state, in addition to servers of the secretariats, the Attorney General’s Office and state authorities.
According to Alesp, the proposal covers 26 different classes and careers in the state, and is the result of studies carried out by the Department of Budget and Management. The readjustment will be granted to active and inactive government employees. Altogether, five parliamentary amendments were incorporated into the text of the project, among them the one that includes the annual review of the salaries of the public security classes in the state, and additional health hazards for prison guards and escorts.
In health, the readjustment of 20% will be given to doctors and other professionals subordinated to the Secretary of State who work in the area, from those who have a full day of work, with 40 hours, to those who work on a reduced day, with 12 hours.
The monthly cost for applying the adjustment, estimated by the Budget and Management Department, is R$ 424.6 million, corresponding to R$ 5.7 billion per year. The government claims that the expenditure is in line with the Fiscal Responsibility Law and will be borne thanks to the financial surplus achieved in 2021.
With the approval in plenary, the project is now going to be sanctioned by Governor João Doria.
