During the session of this March 22, 2022 of the Metropolitan Council of Quitothe councilors learned about the reports from the Ministry of the Environment, the Metropolitan Public Cleaning Company (EMASEO) and the Quito Solid Waste Management Company (EMGIRS), regarding the situation of bucket 10 of the El Inga landfill.
In this context, Councilman Eduardo del Pozo warned that an environmental emergency would be about to enter.
“Again I warn that we are about to enter an environmental emergency due to the negligence of those who are in charge of managing waste In our city. I demand immediate solutions, those that have been proposed so far are pure fable”, he emphasizes, after commenting that the idea of the Cabildo would be to build a new landfill to continue burying trash.
His colleague, Councilor Omar Cevallos agrees with his assessments, and points out that the theme of the landfill It needs urgent action because bucket 10, which was built last year, has already been filled and fulfilled its useful life in December 2021.
