A faction of the Trade Union Confederation of Intercultural Women of Bolivia decided this Friday to expel the executive, Angélica Ponce, from that organization for “defaming” former president Evo Morales and inciting division.
Ponce assures that the decision was made under pressure from the leader of the Movement Towards Socialism (MAS).
“The sanction of expulsion and disregard of Mrs. Angélica Ponce Chambi from the confederation and the intercultural family is determined,” says part of the resolution signed by the leaders of the organization.
The document also states that Ponce does not represent said organization.
In the resolution, which was released to the media, the women argue that the executive’s expulsion occurred “for having trampled on” the principles, the articles of her organic statute and internal regulations, “for inducing confrontation , for creating parallel organizations and causing division” among intercultural people.
They also accuse her of usurping the position and seeking to perpetuate herself in it, of “intimidating” the national executive committee; of “transgressions, defamations and making unfounded accusations against our undisputed leader of the political instrument MAS-IPSP and former president of the Plurinational State (Evo Morales); being the political arm of the union confederation.”

The women’s bloc announced the resolution after the confederation’s first regular meeting, which took place in Cochabamba.
The statement also condemns “the reprehensible comments” against its “undisputed leader” Evo Morales and offers its resounding support.
Ponce tells his truth
In this regard, the leader Ponce assumes that this measure was taken under pressure from the also leader of the Six Federations of the Cochabamba Tropics.
“I imagine that they must be pressured by brother Evo. Well, the Trade Union Confederation of Intercultural Women is not made up of one federation or two federations, nor is it made up of a province; it is made up of nine departments. Here there are nine departmental executives that have an organic structure in each department,” Ponce said, according to Fides News Agency.
Ponce said last Tuesday that it hurts him that Morales imposes a “union dictatorship” within the MAS and that he begins to “ignore” those who were loyal and fight against corruption.
In addition, he affirmed that the former president is “macho” because he considers -he assured- that women are for the kitchen.
In this context, he said that if someone speaks ill of him, “he puts you in the freezer.”
