Betssy Chavez presents a bill to call general elections in the event of a presidential vacancy or resignation.
The Minister of Labor and congresswoman, Betssy Chávez, presented the constitutional reform bill that aims to partially reform article 1150 of the Political Constitution of Peru, in order to call general elections for a new period of government in case of vacancy or resignation of the President of the Republic. The article with the modification would be as follows:
“ARTICLE 115.- Due to the temporary or permanent impediment of the President of the Republic, the First Vice President assumes his duties. In his absence, the Second Vice President. Due to the impediment of both, the President of Congress.
In the event of the vacancy or resignation of the President of the Republic, the Vice President or the President of Congress immediately calls general elections for a new term of government.”
