President Louis Abinader issued this Tuesday the decree 132-22, by means of which three days of official duel for the death of Rosa Altagracia Eulogia Gómez (doña Rosa).
The Presidency of the Republic reported in a statement that the days corresponding to the official duel are March 22, 23 and 24 of this year.
“The presidential provision instructs the Ministry of Defense to render the corresponding military honors to this prominent Dominican citizen,” it indicates.
Through this decree, the head of state also ordered that the National Flag must fly at half-staff in military precincts and public buildings throughout the country.
Mrs Rose Gomez He died Monday night of a heart attack at the age of 82.
The lady was treated at the Abreu Clinic, in the National District.
Mrs Rose Gomez de Mejía, was born in the municipality of Gurabo, in the province of Santiago, on March 11, 1940. On July 4, 1964, she married Rafael Hipólito Mejía Domínguez, who was President of the Republic during the period 2000-2004. They had four children: Ramón Hipólito, Felipe, Carolina (current mayor of the National District) and Lissa.
During his coordination in the former Office of the First Lady, in addition to the Trampolin Museum, he carried out projects on Education for Work and Life; Social Assistance activities and support for Socio-community Interventions and local development initiatives.
For his work in support of education, he received various honors and decorations, including the Grand Cross of the Order of Isabel La Católica from His Majesty King Juan Carlos I of Spain, the Honoris Causa Doctorate in Humanities from the Technological Catholic University of Cibao (Ucateci), and the Paul Harris Button, the highest award granted by the International Rotary Foundation.
