Doctor Alex González: “The number of appointments that people make and do not attend is greater than 20%”


The doctor mentioned that now that the pandemic is passing, people have turned to the units, which is why there has been a high demand.

The National Executive Director of Health Services and Benefits of the Social Security Fund (CSS), Alex González, referred on Tuesday to the issue of appointments and the situation that arose on Monday at the Susana Jones hospital.

He commented that in the aforementioned hospital information was leaked that there were going to be appointments for MRI and people rushed to the site. “We only have five teams, when agendas are opened we don’t have just one day to give appointments,” she remarked.

He reiterated that people should get used to using the website to make their appointments and avoid crowds.

The doctor mentioned that now that the pandemic is passing, people have turned to the units, which is why there has been a high demand.

Regarding the appointments that people make, he pointed out that the number of appointments that people make and do not attend is greater than 20%, “these are appointments that are lost. In 2020-2021 we managed to give more than 10 million appointments. Ophthalmology and cardiology are one of the most sought after specialties”.
