It seeks to reduce dependence on fossils.

Tropigas Dominicana, de a Martí, and the Energy Commission (CNE) signed an agreement that will allow the injection of 43 MW of photovoltaic solar energy into the electrical system, thus promoting the country’s competitiveness and sustainable development.

The energy will come from the Parque Solar Martí, located in Haras Nacionales, Santo Domingo Norte, which has a photovoltaic infrastructure valued at US$45 million.

The long-term electricity supply agreement, known as PPA (Power Purchase Agreement), will help reduce the country’s dependence on fossil fuels in a context of international crisis, which has produced substantial increases in oil prices. The Minister of Energy and Mines, Antonio Almonte, assured that promoting renewable energy is the only way the country has to deal with high fuel prices.
