Venezuela expressed solidarity with China after plane crash in Guangxi

The Venezuelan government expressed this Monday its “deep feeling of regret and solidarity” to China for the passenger plane of the Eastern Airlines airline that crashed this Monday with 132 people on board in a mountainous area of ​​the Guangxi region, located to the south.

“Faced with this unfortunate fact, the government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expresses its deep feeling of sorrow and solidarity with the families of the victims, and encourages those who carry out rescue tasks in these tragic circumstances,” reads part of a statement from the Chancellery of the Republic.

Venezuela reiterated the sincere “relationship of brotherhood, friendship and solidarity” that unites it with China, which with “strength and integrity face this unfortunate catastrophe that mourns the Chinese people.”

“Likewise, it extends the most sincere message of encouragement to the families and relatives of the victims,” ​​added the statement published on Twitter.

The Boeing 737-800 passenger plane, less than seven years old, was operated by China Eastern Airlines, and was en route from Kunming Changshui in southwest China’s Yunnan province; to Guangzhou, in the southern province of Guangdong.

The flight departed from Kunming at 1:15 pm local time. The plane suddenly began to lose speed and altitude around 2:20 p.m. and then disappeared from radar.

The flight crashed in a mountainous area in Teng county of Wuzhou district in the Guangxi Autonomous Region, sparking a forest fire that was later extinguished.
