Logicalis is not part of the Inside Consortium

Our media outlet published an article on Friday entitled “Mitic invests US$ 3.6 million in connectivity”. The note mentions that the company Logicalis Paraguay is part of the Inside Consortium, the winning firm of the call for tenders.

At the request of Logicalis Paraguay, we clarify that it is not part of the consortium, and that it has not participated in the bidding process either.

In the note, we interviewed Antonio Domínguez, as Logicalis cluster manager, however, he himself is CEO of RYF, one of the consortium companies.

“Logicalis Paraguay denies being an integral part of the Inside Consortium or having participated in the bidding process. Likewise, we record that Antonio Domínguez has no employment relationship or of any kind with Logicalis Paraguay” reads the request for clarification from the firm.

CONTEXT
The company Consorcio Inside was awarded for a total value of G. 14,883 million by the Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies (Mitic). He managed to win the so-called tender; “Supply, installation, commissioning and maintenance of infrastructure for the provision of free internet in public spaces (Infrastructure – IGEP) with ID 388,552. For this tender, offers began to be received on Friday, July 30, 2021.

The Mitic will provide free internet to 321 public spaces. The project consists of two components. The first is connectivity and the second is infrastructure. Once completed, the benefited places will have free internet for 24 months.

Currently, about 110 public spaces have free internet. With this, the total amount will rise to 430 points throughout the country. It is estimated that, by the end of 2022, the works will already be completed.

The works include the deployment of fiber and the installation service in remote places (away from large cities). It is about 1000 kilometers of new fiber cables.

These are squares, hospitals, waterfronts, settlements and others. By the end of this year they will be operational. Due to the situation of the pandemic and the war, there are problems with logistics and the delivery of the equipment.

The project is financed with resources from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). The objective is to provide vulnerable people with limited internet resources. Reduce the digital divide.
