The simplified quarantine rules will apply to short-term business travelers inoculated with Covid-19 vaccines that the Japanese authorities deem effective.
The government clarified that the condition will be imposed that companies that inform in advance their planned activities for the seven days after the quarantine and supervise them accordingly.
Currently, such travelers must undergo a 10-day quarantine period upon entering Japan, while a 14-day isolation period applies to other arrivals.
The government will also resume the entry of those who stay longer, including students and technical interns, although their quarantine period will be 14 days in principle.
After an explosive resurgence of the virus and the spread of highly contagious variants, the Japanese central administration suspended last January the entry of foreigners, including businessmen, in principle, accepting only people in special circumstances (for example, humanitarian reasons).
