Oil production during February was the highest in 11 years

Regarding gas, production remained practically stable in relation to Januarywhich was a month with a historical record for unconventional production.

Thus, during the second month of the year, 11% more total gas and 38% more unconventional gas were produced compared to the same month last year.

The report was released within the framework of the Argentina Oil & Gas Exhibition that takes place until Wednesday at the La Rural property, where this afternoon at 6:00 p.m. the opening ceremony will be held with the announced participation of the secretary of Energy, Dario Martinez. The organizers also awaited the confirmation in the exhibition of the Minister of Economy, Martín Guzmán, an area on which the energy portfolio depends.

In February, crude oil production in all producing basins added an average of 571,000 barrels per dayof which the unconventional segment represented 39% of the total, that is, u222,000 barrels per day from the Vaca Muerta formation.

For his part, Martínez said that the productive development of the sector is being motorized and achieving great results.”

“The production of January was exceeded, which had been the highest since 2011 and it is necessary to continue working so that it continues to grow,” said the secretary.

Oil production has already definitely recovered from the pandemic and in February it marked a year-on-year growth of 14%. The increase is driven by the unconventional segment that grew 55% compared to the same month last year.

Martínez explained that “these production levels are very important for the country, especially at this time when the global energy crisis resulting from the war is going to affect everyone, including Argentina.”

“Hydrocarbon activity is central to the country’s growth, it generates jobs, more SMEs that join and more development of regional economies,” concluded the official.
