Lacalle on expansion of the Suárez complex: "I am glad you have invested in your country"

The President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou, was this Monday at the inauguration of the expansion of the Suárez Complexlocated in Shangrilá, Canelones, owned by soccer player Luis Suárez.

The president gave a speech in which he stressed that has opted for an investment in Uruguay. “I celebrate that Luis and the family have decided, thanks to the success they have had based on the effort, to invest in their country, because they have many options,” he said. In addition, he cited a previous talk with Suárez, in which the soccer player explained that it is a family project and that, as on the field, it is about putting “effort, dedication, professionalism and love”.

He assured, in turn, that in the complex it “tends towards excellence”. “You can have the best infrastructure in the world, but if you don’t have the best teachers and people who are dedicated to taking care of the place, it probably won’t work,” he explained.

Finally, said to also celebrate “the humility of the great“. “They do not have to go around saying that they are big, they are like that, and this is done by a simple person, a close person who returns to his country to invest,” he concluded.

The complex is in its third year of operation and is located on Calcagno avenue and Del Parque avenue. The new facilities inaugurated were a semi-Olympic swimming pool -25 m by 12.5 m and with variable depth-, gyms with state-of-the-art equipment, a new bodybuilding and spinning room and two multifunction rooms for multiple activities.
