Fuel subsidies will cost US$ 40 million

Desiree Masi, a national senator for the PDP, announced that the fuel subsidy will cost US$40 million in two months alone. She questioned that it is not clear from Petropar, what will be the source of financing.

Regarding the increase in the tobacco tax from 2% (18% to 20%), decreed on February 4, he stated that it is only US$2 million. That is, it will be insufficient to absorb the entire subsidy.

Masi questioned that it is not clear what Petropar’s network of service stations is. And how much is the stock of products you have. Considering that, as of today, a reduction of G. 1,000 per liter for type III diesel and G. 800 for 93 octane gasoline should be implemented. However, this cannot be done due to the lack of sufficient stock in several seasons.

“We ask Lichi (Denis), the source of financing, the source of return and the network of service stations. We need to know if they will also be able to sell to private emblems at more advantageous prices in departments where they do not have Petropar stations. There are things that are not clear, ”he questioned.

ALTERNATIVES

Masi affirms that there are alternatives to be able to pay for this fuel subsidy. He mentioned that the Paraguayan Guarantee Fund (Fogapy) still has US$30 million from the Emergency Law unused. He also mentioned that the Social Security Institute (IPS) still costs US$60 million to pay suspended workers.
